CHAWOSAURIA: Elections 2023: Communists Lost 4 Seats In Special Elections For The Chawopolis Palace; Parker's Supporters Lost Renominations And His Constitution Barely Won!

 What happened in Chawosauria?

It was Friday, March 3, 2023, one of two election days in Chawosauria, the last being October for second rounds, but no first round went to a second round so October won't be important for Chawosaurian politics in 2023.

The results are clear. In special elections to the 25th Chawopolis Palace, the Communist Party supermajority of 893-107 has lost four seats, reducing the Communist Party supermajority to 889-111, but another Communist resigned, going to an 888-111 supermajority. In Communist Party primaries for the first round of the 2024 Chawosaurian midterm elections on March 1, 2023, runoffs being October 4, 2024, the vast majority of Shang Jong Parker's communist allies have lost their bids for renomination and will be replaced by Parker's communist opponents. Then finally, Parker's crown jewel accomplishment: the Imperial Constitution of the Empire of Chawosauria, very progressive and very pro-democratic even compared to the U.S. Constitution, but the Imperial Constitution won by a very disappointing margin of victory, it won a bare plurality of 40% to 39.8%, a razor-thin margin of 0.2 percent.

The 2023 vote was clear that it was a disaster for Supreme Leader Shang Jong Parker and a victory for his lifelong friend, second-in-command, and now ideological rival, Linghu Xiaoliang, who felt Parker's pro-democratic sentiments were a mutiny to traditional communism, the Marxist-Leninist fashion of doing things. Parker's communist comrades in the Chawopolis Palace were slaughtered in Communist Party primaries to traditional communist challengers promoted and backed by Linghu Xiaoliang, which means Linghu has gained control of the Chawosaurian Communist Party from Parker and his progressive agenda. Adding insult to injury for Parker. his party lost 4 seats in by-elections for the 25th Parliament, and his cherished accomplishment, a new constitution, got a reality check and it won't be a very cherished accomplishment after all.

By January 1, 2025, Shang Jong Parker will face a parliament where his liberal initiatives and pro-democratic agenda will not go batting in a simple shoo-in ballpark. A Communist Party parliament dominated by Linghists instead of Parkerians will not be as interested in things like democracy and human rights as Parker is, and Parker will face questions about whether he truly is the legitimate leader of Chawosauria if Linghu Xiaoliang will be the one pulling the strings of the communist agenda for the late-decade.

But Linghists are open to working with Parker on things like cracking down on religion and consolidating the communist ideology. There is no hatred for Parker among Linghists, and they want Parker to be less aligned with the west, take a more pro-Kremlin approach to the War in Ukraine, which is an issue Parker preferred to stay silent on so is to avoid pissing off his own supporters who held strong anti-Kremlin and (some of them held) pro-NATO views, but with his supporters now leaving office on December 31, 2024, Parker will have nothing else to lose when he finally feels free to take a stand on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Parker's ability to shepherd legislation will be limited unlike his last parliament from 2020 to 2024, and he will face more rebellious sheep and cattle than he did in his earlier term.
