2021 Election Backlash Against Shang Jong Parker & Joe Biden!

2021 was the Year of The Resistance!

Chawosaurian Supreme Leader Shang Jong Parker and U.S. President Joe Biden in 2021.

The 2021 elections in Chawosauria in October and the United States in November have made 2021 such a horrible for both Shang Jong Parker of Chawosauria and Joe Biden of the United States. On October 1, 2021, legislative special elections were won by Parker's social democratic opponents in constituencies that were expected to be won by communist candidates and this backlash comes from Chawosaurian public disapproval for Parker's handling of the increasingly unpopular Ural Wall in Western Russia through his unpopular Chawo-Uralic War which was fallen so incredibly out of control. On November 2, 2021, the Republican Party won control of Virginia's three statewide offices and a majority in the House of Delegates, Virginia's lower house, and Republicans almost flipped the governor's mansion in New Jersey against Democratic governor Phil Murphy, but nobody beats an incumbent. This Republican success is the result of discontent with federal inaction and infighting amongst a Democratic Party federal trifecta in Washington as they can't pass a partisan agenda that they were elected to pass in the 2020 elections and stabilize a resistant pandemic and recession which brought inflation and a supply chain crisis, but also, state and local problems for Biden's Democrats, Biden's unpopularity and Democrats' mishandling of local issues such as education.

Shang Parker's showing in the 2021 special elections was worse than Biden's showing in the 2021 off-year elections: New Jersey's Democratic governor Phil Murphy's reelection was a historic silver lining for Biden's Democrats, Murphy is the first Democratic incumbent since 1977 to win reelection and he is the first New Jersey gubernatorial nominee of the President's party since 1985 under President Ronald Reagan to come out victorious; Democrats obliterated a Republican-petitioned recall election in California, giving Democrats a potential edge in the popular vote, a flip from 2020 when Republicans won the popular vote there despite losing control of the White House and the Senate and failed to flip back the House of Representatives. But the 2021 American elections were still disappointing in no doubt: if Democrats won both Virginia and New Jersey, then that would be a double historic victory for Biden because Virginia (except for 2013 under Obama) has always voted down a gubernatorial nominee who belongs to the President's party, and unfortunately, the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election of Republican Glenn Youngkin against Democrat Terry McAuliffe (a former Governor actually) has proved to be no exception, and the worst part is that it may mean Democrats unless they turn themselves around, are in big trouble in the 2022 midterm elections for Congress.

In the United States, it is historically common for the party of the President to do poorly in congressional midterm elections, some worse some not so worse. Obama is the recent President who had the worst midterm elections in 2010 and 2014, in 2010 Obama lost 63 seats in the House and 6 in the Senate but was fortunate to keep control for his party. Biden may not have it worse though, Obama's 2009 Virginia loss was much more worse than Biden's 2021 Virginia loss, the 2009 Virginia Democrat got 41% to Republican Bob McDonnell's 58%, and Biden's Virginia Democrat lost with 48% to Youngkin's 51%.

But Shang Parker is in a much worse place. Midterm elections are performed differently in Chawosauria: a Supreme Leader's first midterm is always favorable but as a monarchy drags on a different story. In 1905, Emperor Santiago's Liberal Party allies gained 313 seats; in 1979, Timothy Max Roosevelt's Chawallian Communist Party gained 81 seats plus a supermajority that will last until 2009 just two years before he died; 2015, Joseph M. Lopez's Chawallian Communist Party regained the supermajority lost in 2009; but that supermajority was again lost in 2017 under anti-communist Supreme Leader Degotoga K. Atagulaklu. Shang Parker's first midterm will be in 2024 and he has since taking office in 2020, has presided over a chaotic monarchy thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the George Floyd fallout, the 2020 U.S. presidential election and its lasting fallout, and inside Chawosauria: the Chawo-Uralic War over the Ural Wall. The 2024 midterm elections is widely declared by observers that the elections may go poorly for Parker and his Communist Party and it may affect his reelection in 2029.

2022 will be a tough year for both Shang Jong Parker and Joe Biden: they're both unpopular, they're both dealing with domestic problems (Shang Parker: Chawo-Uralic War; Joe Biden: COVID-19).
